curriculum

Our program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, and creative development.

Within the program’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first-hand experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self and teacher-directed activities. Opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities are provided. Staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm, and responsive to each child’s individual needs. We respect families as the primary and most important providers of care and nurturing, and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.

Infants – Twos: We use Funshine Express Early Learning Curriculum

FunShine Curriculum is a professionally designed Early Learning program for young children. Lesson plans encompass all areas of a child’s development: language, cognitive, physical, and social. Children learn best through interacting with their environment, and FunShine Curriculum activities are designed with that in mind. They will help us prepare your children for a bright future, and have fun along the way!

Preschool: We use the High Reach Learning Curriculum.

It operates on the belief that the child learns best by doing. It encourages children to learn and explore through the use of their senses, such as touching, tasting, smelling, listening and looking. The ultimate goal is for our children to become eager learners who are prepared not only for kindergarten but for long-term success. We encourage our children to be independent, self-confident, and inquisitive individuals.

Teacher Qualifications

Caregivers participate in an orientation class and ongoing training in the areas of child growth and development, healthy and safe environments, developmentally appropriate practices, guidance, family relationships, cultural and individual diversity, and professionalism.

Areas of Focus

SCIENCE

Children are naturally drawn to use their senses of touch, sight, smell, taste, and hearing to examine the virtually endless aspects of the scientific world around them.

The science curriculum is a sensory and experience-rich environment where children are encouraged to observe, explore, and interact with scientific materials geared to specific age and ability levels. We provide an engaging, hands-on setting to help students understand basic scientific information in such a way that they will want to continue learning about science with enthusiasm and confidence.

Spanish

Learning a second language has profound cognitive and academic benefits for Preschoolers.

Young children learn a second language much the same way they learn their first: through songs, stories, talking, and playing.  Preschool is the perfect age to learn language. Both English and Spanish share roots in Latin. Studying Spanish increases children’s understanding of the English language and how different languages evolve, which can also help with learning English vocabulary.

Fun-n-Fitness

Children need physical exercise each day to develop their gross motor and fine motor skills.

Our children will enjoy exploring physical movement twice a day during Outside Time! We also offer Soccer Shots and Dance, once a week, for ages 12mnths-up.

Chapel

In Chapel, the children will enjoy Bible Stories, learn Scripture verses, and participate in engaging activities.

Chapel is a large group format using music, crafts, and fun activities to reinforce the Bible lesson. The goal of Chapel class is to introduce our children to basic bible stories and concepts.

Extra Curricular Programs

Dance offers enormous cognitive benefits. Every time your child attends class they are getting an opportunity to engage in physical exercise that encourages healthy brain functions! It also teaches physical strength, flexibility, agility, balance, and confidence. These lessons include a combination of tap, ballet, and baton. We offer Dance through Southern Stars Dance & Baton.
