Our program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, and creative development.
Within the program’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first-hand experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self and teacher-directed activities. Opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities are provided. Staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm, and responsive to each child’s individual needs. We respect families as the primary and most important providers of care and nurturing, and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.
We use the High Reach Learning Curriculum.
It operates on the belief that the child learns best by doing. It encourages children to learn and explore through the use of their senses, such as touching, tasting, smelling, listening and looking. The ultimate goal is for our children to become eager learners who are prepared not only for kindergarten but for long-term success. We encourage our children to be independent, self-confident, and inquisitive individuals.
Areas of Focus
Children are naturally drawn to use their senses of touch, sight, smell, taste, and hearing to examine the virtually endless aspects of the scientific world around them.
The science curriculum is a sensory and experience-rich environment where children are encouraged to observe, explore, and interact with scientific materials geared to specific age and ability levels. We provide an engaging, hands-on setting to help students understand basic scientific information in such a way that they will want to continue learning about science with enthusiasm and confidence.
Drama & Music
Pretend to be a tree – a fish – or a growing flower! This is an artistic outlet all children relate to in a positive way.
Drama and music stimulate intellectual growth while allowing children to explore their creativity! Music and dramatics allow children the freedom to develop many new skills. Among the skills enhanced are social/emotional awareness, gross motor abilities, listening skills, and body awareness – all while having fun!
The Preschool Department hosts two Performances each school year; our Christmas Program and our Graduation / End of the year Program. Each child in the three-year-old and Prekindergarten classes will have the opportunity to participate in these performances.
Children need a variety of physical exercise each day to develop their gross motor and fine motor skills.
Our children will enjoy exploring physical movement in our weekly Fun-N-Fitness class. Our Fun-N-Fitness teacher prepares age-appropriate activities that engage the children in active play. Gross and fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and visual tracking skills are just some of the areas of development that are enhanced during Fun-N-Fitness time – important skills that are used for pre-reading and prewriting.
In Chapel, the children will enjoy Bible Stories, learn Scripture verses, and participate in engaging activities.
Chapel is a large group format using music, crafts, and fun activities to reinforce the Bible lesson. The goal of Chapel class is to introduce our children to basic bible stories and concepts.
